Synopsis
Climate catastrophes, wars, pandemics, collapsing democracies, right-wing threats— disaster piles on disaster! We stare at it, freeze, fall into escapist trances, or dream of virtual worlds. In Ghosts, it’s 5 past 12 – witching hour – and we see impossible stories about broken futures, marginalized and dispossessed bodies: phantom bodies, phantom property, phantom pain, phantom appropriation. Ghosts invites you to deal with the ghosts of patriarchy, the humanistic legacy and its necropolitics, as well as the traces of colonial capitalism on your own body, the images in our heads and possibly other worlds, and to deal with queer emancipatory spirits to band together. They are unruly characters who bring missed opportunities of the past to life and tell them further. Close to the audience and accompanied by an artistic audio description, there are horrifyingly fantastic encounters of a different kind, fluid collective moments of mourning, humorously erotic goosebumps, and bizarrely liberating visions from a tangibly distant future. Welcome to our bodies!
Ghosts is a relaxed dance performance for people with and without visual impairments with integrated audio description in German and a collaboration with Stadttheater Gießen.
